The Junior Farm Manager supports the daily operations of the farm, working closely with the Senior Farm Manager to implement production plans and oversee farm-workers. This role focuses on hands-on farm management, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and production targets are met.

Key Performance Outputs
  • Assist in overseeing farm activities, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule. Provide hands-on support in fieldwork.
  • Assign work to farm laborers, ensuring productivity and adherence to farm protocols. Provide basic training where needed.
  • Monitor equipment, tools, and materials. Ensure efficient use of water and fertilizer.
  • Support compliance with food safety and agricultural regulations. Keep basic records and report issues to management.
  • Identify and resolve minor operational challenges. Suggest improvements to streamline workflow.

Requirements

Qualification / ExperienceΒ 
  • Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of farm experience, preferably in soft fruit or low chill varieties.
  • Hands-on experience with day-to-day farm operations, including irrigation and crop management.
  • Basic knowledge of farm management software and Microsoft Office tools.
Functional/Technical

  • Understanding of farm operations, crop production, and harvesting techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of pest control, irrigation, and soil management.
  • Ability to monitor farm conditions and report issues to management.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Leadership / Behavioural

  • Ability to supervise small teams and assign daily tasks.
  • Hands-on approach to farm management.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with workers and senior management.
  • Adaptability to work in varying weather conditions and peak production periods.
  • Assist with machinery operating
