After an internal transfer between regions, we are seeking an exceptional agricultural leader to join the Beckworth Court team in the role of Station Manager. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong leadership across safety, people, production, planning, financial and commercial acumen, logistics, animal welfare, with experience in large scale ag-operations, strategic thinking, effective communication, organisational skills while embodying Paraway's core principles of opportunity, accountability, and integrity.
The Role:
Beckworth Court is located 5 minutes from the town of Clunes and has a average carrying capacity of 35,000 DSE of livestock. A terminal 1st cross sheep breeding enterprise joined to Poll Dorset rams, ran alongside an Angus cattle breeding enterprise There is also an extensive pasture improvement program underway as part of the business plan.
In this dynamic leadership role, you'll lead a large-scale operation in the Southern region. Your responsibilities extend to building on the existing enterprise breeding operation base and implementing the annual and 5-year Business Plans for your Station. These plans encompass critical components like production, people, safety, balance sheets, budgets, capital plans, and strategies for environmental sustainability. Moreover, you're entrusted with the financial performance of the asset and also will be required to support a large-scale renewable project in balance with being accountable for meeting key business expectations which are supported by a regionally allocated business analyst.
Practical leadership and management skills are essential in this role, including a strong commitment to animal welfare & nutrition, adeptness in large-scale livestock logistics, feeding, marketing & selling, strategic thinking, and an intricate understanding of livestock water systems. Building and nurturing relationships is at the core of your role, whether it's with contractors engaged in lamb marking and shearing or fostering positive community connections that enhance the property's reputation. Your responsibilities extend to managing stakeholders both internally and externally, overseeing personnel, and effectively handling people management tasks, including the management of a team of staff 2-3 permanent staff.
As a leader in this role, you play a pivotal role in guiding one of the southern region's properties towards excellence. Your unwavering commitment to safety, production, sustainability, business acumen, practical expertise, and relationship-building will have a profound impact on the enterprise's success.
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of 10 years working within the industry, with at least 5 years served in a leadership role for a mid-large scale livestock operation (such as Operations Manager, Farm Manager, Assistant Manager etc.)
Solid commercial understanding and budgeting planning skills and experience
