639 Acres | 258 Hectares | 240 Head Angus Cows | Commercial Breeding Operation

On behalf of our client, we’re looking for an experienced or up and coming Farm Manager to take the reins of a well-regarded commercial breeding property in Kinglake Central, just over an hour from Melbourne. Covering 639 acres, the farm runs 240 head of Angus cows + calves and comes with excellent infrastructure and well-kept paddocks.

Reporting directly to the owners, you will be responsible for all daily farm tasks, including cattle management and property maintenance. 

About the Property

• 639 acres (258 hectares) of gently rolling country with fertile soils
• 240 head of Angus breeding cows + calves
• Strong pastures and established shelter belts
• Well set-up infrastructure: hay and machinery and modern cattle yards
• Excellent water supply across the farm
• Mature gardens and a newly renovated homestead

About the Role

This is a full-time, hands-on management role. You’ll be across everything from day-to-day livestock care to longer-term planning.

Main duties include:

• Livestock care and handling – feeding, health checks, calving, AI programs, and general welfare
• Property maintenance – fences, troughs, water, pasture work and weed control
• Record keeping – livestock, treatments, paddock records
• Working with the owners and consultants to plan for the future
• Operating farm machinery and machinery maintenance

Extra Opportunity – Part-Time Role Available

There’s also a casual part-time role (roughly 10 hours a week) available for a second person. Tasks can be shaped around your experience – may include calving, marking, mustering, mowing, general help around the farm.

About You

We’re after someone who:

• Has experience managing cattle and understands breeding programs
• Can operate machinery confidently
• Knows how to look after pasture and do general farm maintenance
• Keeps good records and takes pride in doing the job properly
• Can communicate clearly and work well with others
