The role of the Mixed Crop Farmer is to:

• Plan and coordinate sowing, planting, and harvesting programs in consultation with the Senior Agronomist

and Farm Manager, supervise field rotations in line with production schedules.

• Carry out various duties to plan, coordinate and control the farming operations to breed and raise livestock

Key Accountabilities

• Overall responsibility for overseeing irrigation management, fertilizer and spray management, crop

monitoring, harvest management, calibration of seeders and sprayers, and pest management.

• Operate various equipment used in agricultural production to plant cultivate and harvest crops.

• Direct and monitor the activities of the harvest team to ensure optimal growing conditions through weeding,

thinning, and pruning crops.

• Apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilisers to crops as required.

• Completion of farm records such as pesticide use, yields, or costs to meet quality accreditation and

workplace health and safety requirements.

• Monitor field operations to identify problems with water, fertilizer, or chemical application.

• Report any production, quality, or safety problems/concerns to senior management as required.

• Schedule repairs, maintenance, and replacement of farm equipment and machinery in conjunction with the

workshop to ensure farm equipment is maintained and unplanned downtime minimised.

• Understand the site’s commitment to the ongoing compliance to the Freshcare Food Safety and Quality

Standard.

• All other directions of management to achieve the company’s objectives.

• Comply with the company’s Quality and Safety policies and procedures.

Deliverables:

• Farm annual profit targets are exceeded with return per acre maximized.

• Advanced communication of yields and quality.

• Timely completion of assigned tasks both safely, effectively, and efficiently.

• Demonstrate compliance with the site’s food safety, access, and movement requirements.

• Crop yields are optimized, weeds and pests are reduced, maximising the value of the crop production grown

on company farms.

• Farm machinery is maintained in good working order and maintenance concerns are communicated to the

workshop in a timely manner.

• Operations schedule is maintained in accordance with company policies, procedures, and business needs.

• No injury or incidents which negatively impact safety, the environment, or the community.

• Quality accreditation is maintained, and all other company management systems are complied with in full.

Special conditions:

• Flexible work hours considering crop and weather conditions/risks.

Experience/qualifications/Knowledge:

• Full/unrestricted driver’s license (essential).

• A demonstrated history in farm management.

• Qualification with relevant agricultural background/experience.

• Forward thinking skills and the ability to plan the operation, set targets and achieve results.

• Negotiation/Contractor/Grower management skills.

• Mechanical background and or knowledge.

• Chemical User Certificate Accreditation (essential).

• Forklift license (essential).

• HC license (essential).

• Knowledge of industry safety and quality system

WHS Responsibilities:

• Observe and comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.

• Take all reasonable steps to ensure personal safety and that of others.

• Report and identify hazards, incidents including near misses or injuries which arise in the course of work
